GPFF Foundational Fly Fishing Seminar

Zoom Edition,

1st Session March 12th, 2nd Session 13th 2022

Grizzly Peak Fly Fishers is dedicated to the ongoing education in the art, science, and sport of fly fishing.  One of our programs is the GPFF Foundational Fly Fishing Seminar.  Historically, offered in the fall, the seminar provides the entry through intermediate level anglers everything they need to know about the sport, including: Essential Equipment needed, Knots & Leaders, Casting, Stream water reading, Entomology, Fish Identification & Fly use, Landing and Releasing Fish and more.

This is NOT a ‘survey’ course, it is a full, comprehensive course that will give you the confidence and preparedness to move forward productively in the sport.

Vaccination PLUS Booster is Mandatory to attend.

Please confirm with our membership team that we have received a

photocopy of you Vac Card before registering for this event.

When you login you should see the symbol (V) after your last name.

What you get:  A 'Link' to a 50+ page, full-color course text, with plenty of lined pages for taking notes you can print out.  Starter Tools, Knot tying materials, Practice Casting Leader & False Fly.  Additionally, you will be assigned a ‘mentor’ that you can contact at any time for help and advice.  You’ll get a coveted Grizzly Peak Certificate of Completion upon graduation (suitable for framing).  First session is a 5 to 6 hour Zoom course, ~ 9am to 3pm.  Second session (typically next day) is ~ 3 hours of casting instruction, starting 10am.

What to bring to casting session:  Rod, reel & fly line.  (Let Mark know IF you need a club loaner for casting).  Sunglasses (or some sort of protective glasses) for eye protection safety, a hat is recommended.  Our coaches have decades of experience and will be working with you at your current level to help you develop the foundations you need to build on.

Seminar Fee:  Members $75, Non-members $115 (that includes a year’s membership).

Registration/Payment:  Zoom Class is limited to 20 participants. Payment can be made through the GPFF’s calendar on our website via Paypal. Checks are also accepted. Make checks payable to GPFF and send them to PO Box 153 El Cerrito, Ca 94530. Include your name, address, best contact number & email address with your check.  Please contact Mark Likos, email address below, after registering, to get the 'Tools' provided.  Nonmembers, contact Mark Likos to start enrollment and membership process.
